Details

In the late 1980s, 7-year-old creative Tim Templeton is surprised when his new baby brother, Boss Baby, arrives. The child wears a suit and tie and acts like a normal child around adults, but acts like an adult when adults are absent. One day, Baby holds a staff meeting with the other children under the guise of a neighborhood play date. Tim tries to record them on a tape before Baby and his friends find and chase him, destroying it. Tim is grounded until he learns to move with Baby.

Later, Baby reveals the truth about why she is in his house and where she is from. She and Tim suction a special sedative that allows them to see the baby corp, which is where babies come from. Most children go into families, but those unresponsive to tickling are sent into administration, where they are given a special baby formula that allows them to think and act like adults while remaining forever young. Baby explains that he is on a special mission to investigate the waning love of children due to puppies, and that Tim’s parents came to Templeton while working for the Puppy Co. He will leave when his mission is over. However, the boys hear that Baby’s boss is threatening to fire him if he fails, which means Baby has to stay with the Templeton family and grow up. Tim and Baby team up to prevent this.

On Take Your Kid to Work Day, parents take Tim and Baby with them to Poppy Co. While investigating, they are caught by Francis Francis, who was the CEO of Baby Corp but was fired due to old age due to lactose intolerance. He takes the baby’s formula to create a “Forever Puppy” incapable of aging, which will take all the love from the children and give him his revenge on Babycorp.

Francis takes Tim’s parents to a Las Vegas conference and leaves his brother Eugene to pose as a female nanny to watch the kids. The boys attack Eugene with fake vomit and escape with the help of the neighborhood kids. They arrive in Las Vegas, where they find Francis preparing to launch a rocket of Forever Poppies to Earth. Tim’s parents get trapped under the rocket and get burned. Tim and Baby fight Francis on a catwalk, causing him to fall into a spell that turns him back into a baby, and Eugene takes him home. Tim and Baby save Tim’s parents and get the forever pup out before the rocket launches.

Baby returns to Baby Corp and becomes CEO. BabyCorp employees erase Baby’s evidence and erase her parents’ memories. One of these workers asks Tim if he wants to forget Baby, but he refuses. Tim soon realizes that he misses Baby deeply, and invites her back, saying that she can have all the love of Tim’s parents. The child returns as a regular kid named Theodore “Ted” Templeton, realizing that love is something that grows rather than splits.

Years later, in the present day, an adult Tim and Ted tell the story to Tim’s eldest daughter, who is anxious about the arrival of her newborn baby sister. After the adults leave, the newborn girl reveals that she’s a boss baby, surprising even the older girl.
