Details

In his childhood flashback, Bruce Wayne runs from his parents’ funeral. He falls into a cave, where a whirlwind of bats lifts him back to the surface. In the present, eighteen months after his disastrous battle with General Zod in Metropolis, Superman has become a controversial figure. Bruce is now a billionaire who has worked as the masked Batman in Gotham City for twenty years. Having personally witnessed the war, he sees Superman as an existential threat to humanity.

Clark Kent, Superman’s civilian identity, seeks to denounce Batman’s justice in Daily Planet articles. Bruce learns that Russian arms smuggler Anatoly Nyazev is in contact with Lexcorp mogul Lex Luthor. Luthor tries to convince Senator June Finch to allow him to import the kryptonite discovered after Zod’s terraforming attempts, so that it can be used as a deterrent against future Kryptonian threats. He refuses, but makes alternative plans with Luthor Finch’s subordinate, who allows him access to Zod’s body and the Kryptonian scout ship.

Bruce attends a party at LexCorp to steal encrypted data from the company’s mainframe, but antiquities dealer Diana Prince steals it first; He later returned it to Bruce. While decrypting the drive, Bruce dreams of a postapocalyptic world where he leads rebels against an evil Superman. He is awakened by an unknown man, appearing through a portal, who tells him that Lois Lane is “the key” and urges him to find “the others” before disappearing. Globe One is Diana, who appears in a World War I film. Wayne contemplates weaponizing Kryptonite to go to war with Superman.

A highly publicized congressional hearing, led by Finch, is held to question Superman’s actions against Zod. A bomb smuggled by Luthor explodes, killing everyone present except Superman. Superman blames himself for not detecting it in time and self-exiles. In response, Batman infiltrates Lexcorp and steals Kryptonite. He builds a powered exoskeleton, a kryptonite grenade launcher, and a kryptonite-tipped spear. Meanwhile, Luthor infiltrates the Kryptonian ship and accesses its vast database of technology.

Luthor lures Superman out of exile by kidnapping Clark’s adoptive mother Martha Kent and Lois, whom he pushes out of the Lexcorp building. Superman saves Lois and confronts Luthor, who reveals that the infidelity between Batman and Superman was manipulated. Luthor demands that he kill Batman in exchange for Martha’s life. Superman tries to explain this to Batman, who instead attacks him using a kryptonite gas and eventually subdues him. As Batman prepares to deal the final blow using the spear, Superman pleads with him to “save Martha” – the same name as Batman’s mother. Batman hesitates in confusion, when Lois arrives and explains what Superman means. Coming to his senses, Batman finds and rescues Martha.

Luthor executes his backup plan: release a genetically engineered monster using DNA from both Zod’s body and his own. Superman realizes his vulnerability to kryptonite and fatally impales the creature with a kryptonite spear. Superman, already weakened by kryptonite exposure, mortally wounds the creature before dying.

After Luthor’s arrest, Batman confronts him in prison, warning him that he will always be watching. Luthor is proud that Superman’s death has left the world vulnerable to a powerful alien threat. A memorial is held for Superman in Metropolis, while Bruce and Diana attend the funeral of Clark, who is also pronounced dead. Martha gives Lois an envelope containing one of Clark’s engagement rings. Bruce tells Diana that he regrets Superman’s failure and asks for her help in forming a team of metahumans to protect Earth in Superman’s absence. Dirt piles up on Clark’s coffin as they leave.

Cast and characters

Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne/Batman:
A billionaire socialite and owner of Wayne Enterprises who dedicates himself to protecting Gotham City from its criminal underworld as a highly trained, masked vigilante. The Batsuit in this film is made of a form-fitting fabric, unlike the armored suit in earlier depictions, and also features a mechanical suit that Batman uses in his fight against Superman. On the Batman suit, Zack Snyder commented “I had a really strong idea of what I wanted to do – I really wanted to do a fabric-based Batman; not the more generic, armored Batman that’s become. That’s how we evolved it.” Unlike previous versions who spoke in a deep voice as Batman, this version uses a voice modulator to distort his original voice. Affleck said a well-known billionaire would probably recognize his voice. When asked what makes this Batman different from previous films, Affleck said this Batman is “a little older, he’s a little more world-weary. He’s been around the block once or twice so he’s a little wiser but he’s definitely more ruthless and a little darker.” and more faded”, adding that Batman “became more exposed to the violence and criminal elements of that world over time”. The 50s. Snyder said, “I definitely wanted an older Batman. I wanted a battle-weary Batman. So, in a lot of ways, Ben was really perfect for me — we aged him a little bit. It worked really well. I’m the Batman that we created.” I’m really excited about that.” Clark is smarter than Kent and bears the scars of a seasoned crime fighter, but the world will retain the charm it saw in billionaire Bruce Wayne.” , “One of the things I loved was the idea of showing Jack’s accountability and the consequences of violence and seeing that there are real people in those buildings. “, adding, “And actually, one of those buildings was Bruce Wayne’s building so he knew people. Who dies in that Black Zero event” Brandon Spink portrays a young Bruce Wayne.
Henry Cavill as Clark Kent / Superman:
A Metropolis-based Kryptonian survivor and reporter for the Daily Planet who uses his extraterrestrial powers to protect humanity. Superman’s suit in Batman v Superman is similar to that of the Man of Steel, but with improved, high-tech-style surface detailing and a shiny, more metallic-looking cape. A quote written in Kryptonia is added to Superman’s symbol that says “Where we thought we’d stand alone, we’d stand with all the world”. The film addresses the destruction caused by Superman and Zod in Metropolis, an episode in Man of Steel that was criticized for being too broad for Superman, to which Snyder responded “I was surprised because that’s Superman’s thesis for me, that you can do” not just superheroes. About the public’s perception of Superman in the film, Cavill said, “In this movie, everyone is split on how they feel about this alien”, adding, “Some people love him, some hate him. by doing Is he a tyrant others fear?” is revealed to the world. The film is more about how the world in general – and Batman in particular – views this alien, and less about the evolution of Superman.” Cavill described Superman and Batman as “two sides of the same coin”. They have the same goal, but use very different methods to achieve it. Understandably, this leads them to clash with each other and their conflict is a historic moment. ”
Amy Adams as Lois Lane:
A reporter for the Daily Planet and the love interest of Clark Kent. About her role, Adams said that “Lois is still sort of like the key to the information. She’s the girl going out and getting it and figuring it out and putting it together and all that, so she’s very involved.” When asked about her thoughts on portraying Lois Lane in the film, Adams replied “I love that she’s fearless. I’m not like that so it’s really funny that she’s not really afraid of the consequences.” Regarding Lois Lane and Clark Kent’s relationship in the film, Adams said, “What’s great about it is, as far as Lois and Clark’s relationship goes, when we meet them you can tell they’ve been in a relationship for a long time.” Further explaining, ” So to be able to bring that kind of closeness and that kind of friendship that I developed with Henry to the screen was great.” He also describes Clark Kent. Lois Lane’s connection to humanity and said, “She might have some tunnel vision, but she’s got a job and moral standards. Humanity in her. Her relationship with Clark is the closest thing she has to anything faith-based, you know? Even with Clark. Movement brings problems.”
Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor:
An eccentric young businessman and hereditary CEO of LexCorp who is obsessed with defeating Superman. Luthor is usually depicted as bald in the comics while the film version of Luthor depicts him with hair throughout most of the film. Speaking about his portrayal of Luthor in comparison to previous films, Eisenberg said, “When you’re doing a movie like this and playing a character that’s already been played, the further away from those previous incarnations the better”, adding, “Because, especially with a guy like Gene Hackman or Kevin Spacey, you’re not going to compare favorably.” Eisenberg explained his character’s background as “a core of reality”, saying, “[Luthor] has a backstory that’s tragic and an emotional inner life that’s authentic. That’s what’s in the movie. It was my interest to play the character with a real emotion. The core , and this writer, Chris Terrior’s interest in creating a character that seemed realistic.” Regarding Luthor’s behavior and attitude toward Superman, Eisenberg said, “He’s a narcissist of the first order but complicated in that he’s terribly troubled and competitive and vengeful. He sees Superman not as something to be destroyed but as a real. threat to humanity.” The space you have expanded. So in that way it is not compromised at all. If anything, it’s the best, most rewarding role I’ve ever been given. The opportunity to do an interesting character in a movie of that scale is incredibly rare. ” Eisenberg described one of the film’s themes, saying, “It raises the question of how one man can have so much power. This is the kind of thing we call authoritarian states. They are addressing geopolitics in this movie. And not in a way that is pretentious or secretive”.
Diane Lane as Martha Kent:
Clark’s adopted mother. Of her role as Superman’s mother, Lane said, “I always said if I had a son, it would be the ultimate test. Raise a good man—there’s something noble about that.” When asked about his experience working with Zack Snyder on Batman v Superman, Lane said he was impressed by Snyder’s imagination, adding, “Who has been given the opportunity to bring something like this to the screen for millions of people? It’s amazing. It’s an honor and a burden, and I can’t imagine shouldering that burden.” Of Martha Kent’s support for her son Superman, Lane said, “I think she’s reminding him that he has a choice”, adding, “He doesn’t have to be associated with this fate. He actually feels the joy of having a choice.” can.”
Laurence Fishburne as Perry White:
The editor-in-chief of the Daily Planet and Clark and Lois’ boss. When asked about reprising his role in the film, Fishburne said, “I was happy to get back into the character. I was really excited when I read it and I saw what was at the center of the movie, which was this huge fight between these two titans. ” Of Perry White’s role in the film, Fishburne said, “She’s dealing with the fact that her medium looks like it’s going the way of the dinosaurs, so it’s a tough position to be in”, adding, “The good news is she’s a great reporter and clerk like Lois Lane. Got a new great reporter like Kent who’s eager and hungry to do the job.” Love child and she’s my problem child.” Of her filming experience and her character’s interactions, Fishburne said, “It was really just a couple of days in the beginning with Lois, Clark and Perry. And the rest was just me. With Lois, figuring out how to get her where she needs to go. But I think those relationships were established really well in Man of Steel.”
Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth:
Bruce Wayne’s butler, head of security and trusted confidant. Irons described his take on Alfred Pennyworth as “a very different Alfred to anything we’ve seen so far. Zack Snyder had a very clear idea of what he wanted. I can only say that he’s probably more hands-on than a butler.” When asked what made his Alfred different from previous films, Irons said, “Zack Snyder, the director, wanted to create a completely different Alfred. So I felt like I didn’t have to carry any baggage from the previous films. It’s kind of a rebirth. , if you will. I had a feeling that I was creating my own Alfred, a man who could actually do anything if he wanted to.” , and he’s very involved in the decisions that Bruce makes.” As for how Alfred will be in the film, Irons says, “He has an interesting history. He is a very capable man. I think anyone will like it. He has to get married. He can do everything: change light bulbs, blow up bridges.”
Holly Hunter as June Finch:
United States Senator from Kentucky who heads the political debate over Superman and his actions. Describing his experience being on the film, Hunter said, “It was really fun to be part of a huge, huge machine, led by Zack Snyder, who is completely at home in that uber mega environment. That kind of pressure with a nervous breakdown, and he’s enthralled.” , it will be fun.’ It’s fun to mix it up. I have scenes with Superman. He looks amazing. And to see Ben [Affleck, who plays Batman] and Henry [Cavill, who plays Superman] together is pretty powerful.” Superhero films, Hunter says, “Even though I’m kind of a theater geek, I can go right back to Aeschylus. and in Euripides and Sophocles. They were writing about gods and goddesses versus humans, and how gods can distort, distort or help. People get what they want. And so, for me, it didn’t feel foreign because it was translated for me that it was; That was my filter.” Regarding his character’s opinion on Superman, Hunter said, “What’s his problem with Superman? That absolute power corrupts absolutely. When power acts autonomously, unilaterally with no laws, no boundaries, no laws, except what it thinks in its own mind, it can be harmful.” Describing his character, Hunter said, “I thought that, you know. , as a senator, she put her femininity to work in how she listened, in her curiosity, in her ability to evaluate”, adding, “[It] seemed very feminine to me.”
Gal Gadot as Diana Prince/Wonder Woman:
An immortal Amazon warrior who is the princess of Themyscira. Wonder Woman’s suit is made of chrome-painted polyurethane, and she uses her arm wraps and sword. Gadot described her character as having “a lot of strength and power, but at the end of the day, she’s a woman with a lot of emotional intelligence”. Describing Wonder Woman’s compassion, Gadot said, “It’s her heart—that’s her strength. I think women are amazing for showing their feelings. I admire women who do.” Regarding her thoughts on portraying Wonder Woman, Gadot said, “You know Wonder Woman; she’s amazing. I love everything she represents and everything she stands for. She’s about love and compassion and truth and justice and equality, and she Totally a lot of women. It was important to me that people could relate to her.” Describing her role in the film, Gadot said, “In this movie you get a glimpse of Wonder Woman — introducing her to this DC Comics universe. But we were talking about her strength, her look, her attitude. Why her? She How are you acting?” Of Wonder Woman’s battle scene with Doomsday, Gadot said, “I remember after we did it, Jack came up to me and he said, ‘Were you just laughing?’ I said, ‘Yes.’ And he asked, ‘Why? I think I like it, but why?’ ‘Well, if he messes with him, he’s going to mess with him. And he knows he’s going to win.’ At the end of the day, Wonder Woman is a pacifist. But when it comes to war, she can fight. She’s a warrior and she enjoys the adrenaline of fighting. Thinks she’s perfect”, further explaining, “She can be mischievous.” Regarding Gadot’s casting as Wonder Woman, Snyder said, “Wonder Woman is arguably one of the most powerful female characters of all time and a fan favorite in the DC Universe. Not only is Gal an amazing actress, she also has that magical quality that makes her perfect for the role. .” Gadot had previously been offered the role of Faora Hu-ul in Man of Steel but turned it down because she was pregnant at the time; This allowed her to later star as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.
Scoot McNairy as Wallace Keefe:
Wayne is a reclusive employee of the Enterprise who is crippled during the destruction of Metropolis and blames Superman. McNairy described her role as one she had never played before and said “getting into that thing was definitely something that I had to wrap my head around emotionally to play that character.” When asked if the character was Of the film being held as a surprise until release, McNairy said, “I don’t know if I would necessarily call it a surprise. I would say it’s a character that lends itself to the story being told.” Regarding his thoughts on being in the film, McNairy said “To play with the world of comic books you’ve been reading since you were a kid, to be part of that world, it’s great.”
Callan Mulvey as Anatoly Niyazev:
A Russian terrorist who works for Luthor. Regarding Mulvey’s casting in the film, Zack Snyder said, “I just had the privilege of working with Callan on 300: Rise of an Empire and was so impressed with his incredible talent,” adding, “He’s a great actor and I’m Looking forward to working with him again.” Really loved working for Jack and being on his set, which really says it all.”
Tao Okamoto as Mercy Grave:
About her role in Luthor’s supporting role, Okamoto said “It was very interesting. I didn’t have a big role to say. I used to play sassy girls all the time as a model so it wasn’t that challenging for me. But I enjoyed it a lot, getting worse. . I tried to be bad.” Of Okamoto’s casting, Snyder said “Too is a fascinating presence whose beauty is rightly rivaled by her amazing ability as an actress. I’m really excited to have her join us on this adventure.”
Robin Atkin Downs performed the motion capture and voice work for the creature in the film’s climax. Although the character is not directly named, it is later revealed to be Doomsday. The role was kept in such heavy secrecy that Downes didn’t know who he was playing until the second trailer was released. Box Office

The film earned $166 million in its opening weekend in the United States and Canada, the eighth-biggest opening of all time, ahead of The Dark Knight Rises’ $160.9 million. The film had a worldwide opening of $422.5 million, the second-biggest for Warner Bros. and the fifth-biggest of all time at the time of its release. It became the fourth film to open over $400 million worldwide. It had an IMAX worldwide opening weekend total of $36 million from 945 IMAX screens, the third largest behind Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($48 million) and Jurassic World ($44 million). However, both inside and outside the United States, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice experienced a significantly weaker Friday-to-Sunday hold and set a new record for the worst Friday-to-Sunday drop for a superhero movie release at the modern box office. office history with a 58% decline, previously held by 2015’s Fantastic Four.

In its second weekend, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice experienced a “historic” box-office drop, with an 81.2% drop on Friday that was “one of the biggest Friday-to-Friday drops any blockbuster has ever seen”, and “at the box office despite facing no major competition” dropped 68.4% overall over the weekend, making it the second-biggest drop for a marquee superhero title, 2003’s Hulk Brad Brevett, writing for Box Office Mojo, reported that “it felt like Batman v Superman 58 Looking at a drop anywhere from -68% and it’s settled on the wrong side of those expectations.” Scott Mendelson, writing. For Forbes, saying, “Whether a movie is good, and whether audiences respond to it, is best measured in its second and third weekend… Yes, we’re still talking about $15.35m in the second Friday and a $50m+ second weekend, but the legs In hindsight, this film sadly doesn’t seem to have any.” -For Box Office Mojo that “it’s legs are proving pretty short.”

That’s more than Man of Steel . $200 million,” and “Overall, BvS successfully rebooted DC’s cinematic universe.” According to financial analysts, the film needs to gross $800 million at the box office to “recoup its investment”. Despite exceeding this amount, it was considered “a disappointment” for failing to reach $1 billion.
