Details

In the Eastern European nation of Sokovia, the Avengers—Tony Stark, Thor, Bruce Banner, Steve Rogers, Natasha Romanoff, and Clint Burton—raid a HYDRA facility led by Baron Wolfgang von Strucker, who had previously experimented on humans using a powered scepter. They are met by Loki, two of Strucker’s test subjects—twins Pietro (who has superhuman speed) and Wanda Maximoff (who has telepathic and telekinetic powers)—and capture Strucker, while Stark retrieves Loki’s scepter.
Stark and Banner discover an artificial intelligence within the scepter gem and secretly decide to use it to complete Stark’s “Ultron” world defense program. An unexpectedly sensitive Ultron, believing he must eradicate humanity to save Earth, wipes out Stark’s AI. J.A.R.V.I.S. and attack the Avengers at their headquarters. Escaping with the scepter, Ultron uses the resources of Strucker’s Sokovia base to upgrade his primary body and build an army of robot drones. After killing Strucker, he recruits the Maximoffs, who blame Stark for their parents’ deaths with his company’s weapons, and goes to the base of arms dealer Ulysses Klaue in Johannesburg to obtain vibranium. The Avengers attack Ultron and Maximophs, but Wanda subdues them with a ghostly vision, causing Banner to transform into the Hulk and go on a rampage until Stark stops him with his anti-Hulk armor.
The resulting global reaction to the destruction, and fear of Wonder’s hallucinations, causes the group to hide in Burton’s farmhouse. Thor leaves to consult with Dr. Erik Selvig, who he saw in his hallucination, at which point Nick Fury arrives and encourages the team to come up with a plan to stop Ultron. In Seoul, Ultron uses Loki’s scepter to enslave the team’s friend Helen Cho. They use his synthetic-tissue technology, vibranium and scepter gems to create a new body. As Ultron uploads himself into the body, Wanda is able to read his mind; Discovering his plans for human extinction, Maximus turns against Ultron. Rogers, Romanoff, and Burton fight Ultron and retrieve the synthetic body, but Ultron captures Romanoff. The Avengers fight amongst themselves while Stark and Banner secretly upload J.A.R.V.I.S.—who is still operating inside the Internet while hiding from Ultron—into a synthetic body.
Thor returns to help activate the body, based on his vision that the gem in his brow is the Mind Stone, one of the six Infinity Stones, the most powerful object in existence. This “vision” earns their trust by being worthy of lifting Thor’s hammer, Mjolnir. Vision and Maximus accompany the Avengers to Sokovia, where Ultron uses the remaining vibranium to build a machine to lift a large portion of the capital city into the sky, intending to crash it into the ground to cause global extinction. Banner rescues Romanoff, who awakens the Hulk to battle. The Avengers battle Ultron’s army while Fury takes a helicarrier with Maria Hill, James Rhodes and S.H.I.E.L.D. comes with Agents to evacuate civilians.
Pietro dies when he shields Burton from gunfire, and a vengeful Wanda leaves her post to destroy Ultron’s primary body, allowing one of her drones to activate the machine. The city sinks, but Stark and Thor overload the machine and destroy the surface. Later, the Hulk, unwilling to endanger Romanoff by being with him, leaves in a Quinjet, while the Vision encounters and destroys Ultron’s last remaining body. Later, as the Avengers establish a new base manned by Fury, Hill, Cho, and Selvig, Thor returns to Asgard to learn more about the forces that have driven recent events. With Stark gone and Burton retired, Rogers and Romanoff prepare to train the new Avengers: Rhodes, Vision, Sam Wilson, and Wanda.

Cast And Character

Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark/Iron Man:
The benefactor of the Avengers[9][10][11] is a self-described genius, billionaire, playboy and philanthropist with an electromechanical suit of his own invention. On how his character evolved after the events of Iron Man 3 (2013), Downey said, “I think he’s realized that all the suit tweaking and making in the world—which he’s been doing—hasn’t worked for his tour of duty yet. One thing that left him with a little PTSD. So his focus is how can we make it so that it’s not a problem to begin with. You know, we have a bouncer on the rope of the planet. That’s the big idea [13]
Chris Hemsworth as Thor:
An Avenger and Crown Prince of Asgard based on the Norse mythological god of the same name. Regarding Thor’s place in the film, Hemsworth said that since Thor has remained on Earth since Thor: The Dark World (2013) and is beginning to feel at home here, he considers Ultron’s threat a personal attack. Hemsworth said he had to work harder to bring new elements to the character to avoid repeating himself, “It gave us room to make him a little more grounded and human, and put him in some civilian clothes and mix it up. The party”.
Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk:
A vengeful and genius scientist who, due to exposure to gamma radiation, transforms into a monster when angry or excited. To prepare for the role, Ruffalo worked with motion capture performer Andy Serkis on ‘The Imaginarium. He said that his character had grown from the previous film and was “a little more complicated”.[19] Ruffalo explained that a conflict between Banner and the Hulk was developing by saying, “A very cool thing is happening: Hulk is as afraid of Banner as Banner is of Hulk. Afraid.. and they have to come to peace with each other somehow.” [20] During filming in London, Ruffalo said that Whedon had not yet given him any of the Hulk’s lines. Whedon later explained that he wrote the Hulk’s dialogue spontaneously, saying, “What makes the Hulk difficult to write is that you’re pretending he’s a werewolf, when he’s a superhero. You want the opposite […] So the question is, how does he fare? ?How can we change what the Hulk does? And it’s not just in the script, it’s in the moment.”[22]
Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America:
leader of the Avengers [9][11] and a World War II veteran who was elevated to peak human physicality by an experimental serum and frozen in suspended animation before waking up in the modern world.[23][24] Evans stated that since the fall of S.H.I.E.L.D., Captain In America: The Winter Soldier (2014), Rogers is left to rely on his Avengers teammates without the structure of military life and now “is trying to figure out where he belongs, not just as a soldier, but as Captain America, but as Steve Rogers, a person. As.”[16] Evans said he was able to maintain the energy he built up for Captain America: The Winter Soldier by working up to an hour a day. Regarding Captain America’s fighting style, Evans felt that while he did not want to take a step back from the skills shown in The Winter Soldier, Rogers’ fighting style had improved, showing “a consistent display of strength” and Rogers exploiting his environment.
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow:
An Avenger formerly of S.H.I.E.L.D. Worked for it as a highly trained spy. Producer Kevin Feige said the character’s backstory is explored in the film. Johansson elaborated, “In Avengers 2 we go back […] we definitely learn more about Widow’s backstory, and we get to find out how she became the person you see. All of these characters have deep, dark pasts and I think the past catches up with us a little bit.”[29] While the film picks up the Widow’s story, Johansson felt it was a continuation of what was seen for her character in The Winter Soldier in that “‘[Widow] never made an active choice. It’s going to stick with her. It’s bound to have a huge impact. That realization has to be the result […] you’re going to see her actively making choices in her life, for better or for worse.””[30] Close to hiding Johansson’s pregnancy during filming. A mix of props, disguises, stunt doubles and visual effects were used.
Clint Burton / Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye:
An Avenger and master archer formerly of S.H.I.E.L.D. Worked as its agent. Whedon said that Hawkeye interacts more with other characters in the film, unlike in the first film where the character was “obsessed with a bad guy very early on and had to walk around”. Unlike any other of Marvel’s Phase Two films, Whedon says Age of Ultron focuses on what the character has been up to since the end of The Avengers. Renner described the character as “a loner” and “a team player because he has to be. He’s not really a company guy. Captain America can be that guy. [In Age of Ultron] you’ll understand.
Don Cheadle James “Rhode” Rhodes / War Machine: A US Air Force officer, later an Avenger and close personal friend of Tony Stark who operates the War Machine armor.
Aaron Taylor-Johnson as Pietro Maximoff:
Wanda and the Avenger’s twin brother who can move at superhuman speeds. Taylor-Johnson felt that Pietro was defined by the fact that he and his sister were abandoned by their family and both had to grow up “in Eastern Europe fending for themselves and each other and looking for each other” for guidance. Taylor-Johnson also stated that Quicksilver was “very overprotective” of Scarlet Witch and had “genuine rage depression”, causing her to be easily irritated by little attention. Feige said that Quicksilver’s relationship with his sister and his backstory growing up in Eastern Europe would help differentiate the character from Evan Peters’ version in X-Men: Days of Future Past (2014). Taylor-Johnson says the running style for Quicksilver has gone through multiple iterations. Most of Taylor-Johnson’s scenes were filmed outdoors to give “life” to her running, as opposed to running indoors in front of a green screen.
Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda Maximoff:
Pietro and Avenger’s twin sister who can engage in hypnosis and telekinesis. Olsen felt that Wanda was “overstimulated” rather than “mentally insane” because “she has such a vast amount of knowledge that she is unable to learn how to control it. No one has taught her how to properly control it. She can be in this world and parallel at the same time. Connect to worlds, and in parallel times.” Describing her character’s mind control abilities, Olsen said that the character is able to do more than just manipulate someone’s mind, revealing Wanda Maximoff’s “feelings and what they feel and see” in ways they’ve never seen before. Olsen drew on her relationship with her older brother and her sisters to prepare for the role, as well as looking to comics for inspiration. Olsen revealed that Whedon was inspired by dancers as a way to visually represent how the character moves. As such, Olsen trains with a dancer rather than most traditional stunt training. Olsen is signed on for this film and others.
Paul Bettany and Vision as J.A.R.V.I.S.:
Bettany, who is J.A.R.V.I.S., Stark’s A.I. Companion in the previous film, again cast as Vision, an android and later an Avenger created by Ultron. Bettany said she was surprised when Whedon asked her if she wanted to be the Vision because once an actor is cast as a certain character in the MCU, they usually aren’t cast in other roles. As for what intrigued him about Visions, Bettany said, “The thing that appealed to me was that this kind of newborn being born, both all-powerful and completely stupid, that kind of danger and the complicated nature of the birth of a thing. Is it powerful and is it Made in a second and the choices he makes morally are really complex and interesting. They really nailed them.” Bettany also says that Vision feels paternal and protective of many people in the film, especially the Scarlet Witch, and has the ability to change concentration. Bettany did the wiring for the part. Whedon said he wanted to include the Vision in a second Avengers film before signing on for the first film. Bettany’s make-up, which consisted of a mix of face paint and prosthetics, took two hours to apply with make-up artists Jeremy Woodhead and Nick Williams, and finding the right skin tone for Vision was the most difficult. The prosthetics were eventually replaced in post-production with CGI elements.
Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill:
A former high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. agent who now works for Stark. Describing Hill’s situation in the film, Smulders said that after The Winter Soldier, Hill “really doesn’t know who’s a good guy and who’s a bad guy and he’s trying to figure that out throughout the film.” He added, “He’s not getting any sleep. He’s doing everything. He doesn’t have the manpower he had at S.H.I.E.L.D.,” instead working for Tony Stark at Avengers headquarters “trying to keep everything running as smoothly as possible.” A totally different vibe for.”
Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon:
A former parachutist and later Avenger trained in aerial combat by the military using a specially designed wing pack and friend of Steve Rogers. Discussing the relationship between Wilson and Rogers, Mackie said the two characters have a mutual “soldier respect”, which is explored in the film and Captain America: Civil War (2016). Feige stated that the decision was made to reshoot the film’s final scene to include the new Falcon suit designed for Ant-Man (2015), which was released after Age of Ultron, as the Falcon was originally shot in his original suit from The Winter Soldier. . Mackie said he didn’t realize Wilson had become an Avenger until he saw the film at the premiere, as the scenes he worked on were scripted.
Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter: A retired officer of the Strategic Scientific Reserve and S.H.I.E.L.D. Its co-founder. who is the former love interest of Steve Rogers.
Idris Elba as Heimdall: The all-seeing, all-hearing Asgardian sentry of the Bifrost Bridge, based on the mythological god of the same name.
Linda Cardellini as Laura Burton: Hawkeye’s wife.
Stellan Skarsgård as Erik Selvig:
An astrophysicist and Thor’s friend. Skarsgård said he was not originally supposed to appear in the film, but got a call because “they wrote a few scenes, and I went and did them,” not knowing whether those scenes would appear in the final cut of the film.
James Spader as Ultron:
An artificial intelligence recovered by Tony Stark and Bruce Banner for a pilot peace program is overwhelmed by God’s complicity and now wants to pacify the world by exterminating humanity. Director Joss Whedon said that Spader was his “first and only choice” for the role, because of his “hypnotic voice that can be eerily calm and compelling” and also very human and funny. Feige clarified that Spader’s face and body were motion captured “we didn’t hire James Spader to do a robot voice to create the full performance.” Spader underwent extensive head and body scans in preparation for the role, Whedon said of the character, “He’s always trying to destroy the Avengers, the villain, he’s got a bee in his bonnet. He’s not a happy guy, which means he’s an interesting guy. He’s got pain. . and not the way it expresses it. It’s going to be the standard robot thing.” unpredictable, and robots never are.” ‘Well, why was I made? I want to kill Dad.'” Spader called the character “self-absorbed” and added, “I think he’s part of a problem in the Avengers. See, a more comprehensive world problem. He sees the world from a strange, [biblical] perspective because he’s brand new, he’s very young, he’s immature, and he still has knowledge of extensive, extensive history and precedent, and he’s a rather Creates a skewed worldview.” Spader elaborates, “He’s really an artificial intelligence, with no censorship, no parameters. He’s also got a lot of power. A lot of strength and speed and size, so he’s a very dangerous kid.”
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury:
The former Director of S.H.I.E.L.D who originally recruited the Avengers and continues to serve as a mentor and leader for the team. Jackson described the character as a cameo, saying the character did not participate in action scenes because “I didn’t get to do much other than shoot guns.”
Thomas Kretschmann and Henry Goodman Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and Dr. List, HYDRA leaders who reprise their roles as experts in artificial intelligence from Captain America, advanced robotics, and artificial intelligence from Captain America. Claudia Kim portrays Helen Cho, a world-renowned geneticist who helps the Avengers from her office in Seoul; Familiarity from Stark’s arms-dealing days; and Julie Delpy Madame B. appeared as, who advised Black Widow to become an assassin. Kerry Condon Artificial Intelligence F.R.I.D.A.Y., J.A.R.V.I.S. voiced its replacement while Spader also voiced Stark’s Iron Legion droid. Josh Brolin makes a surprise appearance as Thanos during the mid-credits scene, reprising his role from Guardians of the Galaxy (2014). Avengers co-creator Stan Lee plays a military veteran in the film who attends the Avengers’ victory party. Tom Hiddleston would reprise his role as Loki, but his scenes did not make the film’s theatrical cut.
