One cast member shares high hopes for the release of Five Nights at Freddy’s 2. While the horror movie sequel has not yet been officially greenlit, Five Nights at Freddy’s (which is adapted from the video game franchise of the same name) was a massive box office hit. Although it opened theatrically on the same day it began streaming on Peacock, it had the best opening weekend for a 2023 horror movie, earning $80 million on its way to a worldwide total that has already passed the $200 million milestone.
The Hollywood Reporter recently sat down for an interview with Five Nights at Freddy’s cast member Matthew Lillard. Lillard celebrated being able to talk about the movie now that the actors strike has acquired a tentative deal and reflected that Five Nights’ day-and-date release on Peacock “certainly hurt the second weekend.” However, he said that he’s excited for them to “greenlight the second movie” and put a plan in place to “make it even bigger and even more successful.”
