Agent Natasha Romanoff and S.H.I.E.L.D.’s counterterrorism S.T.R.I.K.E. During a mission with a S.H.I.E.L.D. As the team led by Agent Brock Ramlow to free the hostages aboard the ship from the pirates, Rogers discovers Romanoff has another assignment: extracting data from the ship’s computer.
Back at the Triskelion, S.H.I.E.L.D.’s headquarters, Rogers confronts Director Nick Fury and is informed of Project Insight: three helicarriers attached to spy satellites, designed to preemptively eliminate threats. Unable to decrypt Romanoff’s data, Fury becomes suspicious of the intuition and senior S.H.I.E.L.D. Officials and Homeland Security Secretary Alexander Pierce delayed the project. On his way to rendezvous with Maria Hill, Fury is attacked by assassins led by an assassin named the Winter Soldier. Escaping to Rogers’ apartment, Fury warns him that S.H.I.E.L.D. A compromise is made, but Rogers is shot by the Winter Soldier before he can hand over a flash drive containing the ship’s information. Fury was pronounced dead during surgery and Hill recovered the body.
The next day, Piers summons Rogers to the Triskelion. When Rogers withholds information on Fury, Pierce refers to him as a fugitive. S.T.R.I.K.E. Hunted by, Rogers meets Romanoff. Using the information, they set up a secret S.H.I.E.L.D. Bunker in New Jersey, where they activate a supercomputer containing Arnim Zola’s preserved consciousness. Zola informs them that after being captured by Rogers during World War II, [b] he was recruited into S.H.I.E.L.D., where he secretly reformed HYDRA within its ranks, sowing global chaos so that humanity would surrender its freedom in exchange for safety, the Winter Soldier. using as their primary killer. The pair narrowly escape death when a S.H.I.E.L.D. The missile destroys the bunker and realizes that Pierce is S.H.I.E.L.D. Among them, Hydra is the leader. Rogers and Romanoff enlisted the help of VA employee and former USAF pararescueman Sam Wilson, whom Rogers had befriended and who had used a powered “Falcon” wingpack when Wilson was in the Air Force.
They capture S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Jasper Sitwell, a HYDRA mole, forces him to reveal that Zola has developed a data-mining algorithm that can identify individuals posing future threats to HYDRA. Insight helicarriers will sweep the world using satellite-guided guns to eliminate them. Sitwell is killed in an ambush by the Winter Soldier, whom Rogers recognizes as Bucky Burns, his longtime best friend previously thought dead; He survived Zola’s experiments and was repeatedly brainwashed and cryogenically frozen to carry out Hydra’s mission. Hill manages to get the trio to a safehouse where Fury, who faked his death, plans to sabotage the helicarriers by replacing their controller chips.
After members of the World Security Council arrive for the Helicarrier launch, Rogers broadcasts Hydra’s plot to everyone on the Triskelion. Romanoff, disguised as one of the council members, disarms Pierce. Fury arrives and Pierce is sent to S.H.I.E.L.D. forced to unlock its database so that Romanoff could leak classified information, exposing Hydra to the public. After a struggle, Fury fatally shoots Pierce. Rogers and Wilson attack two helicarriers and replace the controller chips, but Burns destroys Wilson’s suit and fights Rogers in the third. Rogers interrupts him and replaces the final chip, allowing Hill to take control and let the ships destroy each other.
Rogers refuses to fight Barnes in an attempt to reach his friend, but the ship collides with the Triskelion and Rogers falls into the Potomac River. Burns rescues the unconscious Rogers before disappearing into the forest. With S.H.I.E.L.D in disarray, Romanoff appears before a Senate subcommittee to defend his and Rogers’ actions, while Fury, under cover of his apparent death, heads to Eastern Europe in search of the remaining cells of Hydra. Rogers and Wilson decide to find Barnes, while Rumlow, who was a Hydra agent, is hospitalized after the destruction of the Triskelion.
In a mid-credits scene, in a Hydra lab, Baron Wolfgang von Strucker and his scientists examine an energy-charged scepter [c] and two test subjects: one with superhuman speed, the other with telekinetic abilities.[d] A post-credits scene , Barnes visited his own memorial at the Smithsonian Institution.

Cast and characters

Chris Evans as Steve Rogers / Captain America:
An Avenger and World War II veteran raised to peak human physicality by an experimental serum, frozen in suspended animation and now struggling to adapt to the 21st century. Describing his character’s adaptation to the modern world, Evans said, “It’s not so much about his shock with [technology]… it’s more about social differences. He’s gone from the ’40s to today; he’s from a world where Come where people were a little more credible, the threats aren’t as deep. Now, it’s harder to tell who’s right and who’s wrong. The steps you take to protect people from threats can compromise freedom and privacy. Steve swallows that. difficult.” Evans trained in “parkour, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, karate and boxing”, as the Russo brothers believed brought Rogers into the present “meaning he studied and mastered modern fighting styles and techniques”. The filmmakers also wanted to make the character’s shield, traditionally used for defense, a more offensive weapon.
Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff / Black Widow:
An Avenger and a highly trained spy and assassin from S.H.I.E.L.D. works for who teamed up with Rogers. Screenwriter Christopher Markus said that Black Widow was a “great contrast” to Captain America, describing him as “incredibly modern, not too reverent, and too straightforward, whereas Steve, you know a guy from the ’40s. He’s not a boy scout. But he is saved and has a moral center, where his moral center runs.” Rousseau added, “He’s a character who lies for a living. That’s what he does. He’s a character who tells the truth. Their day is a problem and they’re going to have different ways of approaching it. He’s pushing her to modernize, and She is pushing him to add a certain level of honesty to her life. Through a series of fateful encounters, they will be in a situation where their friendship becomes closer. They share a lot in common as they are on the defensive without relying on anyone. . Also, the two continue to work for the government throughout their professional careers . Along with their friendship they begin to question what they want and what their true identities are.”
Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/The Winter Soldier:
Steve Rogers’ childhood best friend who has re-emerged as an advanced brainwashed assassin after supposedly being killed during World War II. Of the character, Feige said, “The Winter Soldier has systematically, almost robotically, followed orders for 70 years.” ), he wasn’t sure Bucky would make an imminent return, and only heard of the sequel’s official title “The Winter Soldier” through a friend attending San Diego Comic-Con. Stan underwent five months of physical training to prepare for the role and did historical research, saying, “I dove into the whole Cold War thing. I watched the KGB. I watched all kinds of spy movies, and all kinds of documentaries. At that time, And that’s what it was. I caught something from that period. Something about brainwashing.” Regarding Bucky’s transformation into the stuntman Winter Soldier, Stan said, “You know, the truth of the matter is that even though he looks very different and has different things about him, it still comes from the same person. I think you see it no matter what. I think Part of my goal here was to make sure you see an extension of that version but a different color of that same version. I think he’s still the same guy; he’s cut from the same cloth,” Stan said of his portrayal of the character in The Winter Soldier. Felt to be “a preview of Guy”, further aspects of the character are explored in the film’s sequel Captain America: Civil War (2016).
Anthony Mackie as Sam Wilson/Falcon:
A former US Air Force parachutist trained by the military in aerial combat using a specially designed wing pack. Of the role, McKee said, “[Wilson] is a really smart guy who goes through extensive military training and becomes a tactical leader.” He also commented, “He’s the first African-American superhero. It makes me feel like the work I’ve done is reflected. I have a son, nephew and niece, and I love the idea that they can dress up as the Falcon on Halloween. They now have There’s someone they can idolize. It’s a huge honor for me.” Marvel, who cast Mackie because of her “energy and sense of fun”, did not let her read a script before signing on. Mackie spent five months doing two-a-day workouts and eating an 11,000-calorie-per-day diet to get in shape for the role. Commenting on Rogers’ relationship with Wilson, Evans said, “Meeting Mackie’s character, he used to serve, now he works with the VA counseling guys who come home with PTSD—they connect on that level. I think they’re both wounded warriors. People who don’t bleed on other people. Cap’s got no one to bleed on. I think Mackey knows how to handle people like that. … Sometimes when things get tough, trusting a stranger is the way to go.”
Cobie Smulders as Maria Hill:
A high-ranking S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent who works closely with Nick Fury. Smulders said that she performed some of her own stunts in the film, explaining, “I try to do my own stunts whenever I can. You’re only allowed to do certain stunts. There’s an amazing team of stunt people who mostly work on this film. But, I studied a lot of Tae Kwon Do. I also trained a lot with weapons because I’m not very comfortable around guns. I had to get comfortable because it’s my character thing… I want to get really physical so I feel empowered when I’m on set. And even though you don’t see it on screen, maybe I’m taking people that you don’t see off camera.”
Frank Grillo as Brock Ramlow:
S.H.I.E.L.D. The Commander Team of its Counter Terrorism S.T.R.I.K.E. Grillo hinted in a June 2014 interview about the character’s return in the sequel with alter-ego Crossbones. Grillo signed a seven-film deal.
Emily VanCamp as Sharon Carter / Agent 13:
Shield. The agent is assigned to guard Rogers without his knowledge. About the character, VanCamp said, “I play Agent 13 / Sharon Carter, which everyone knows but we don’t touch on that in this film. We’re just introducing her. When we first see her, we know she’s living the next life. To Captain America… there’s a little thing going on between them and we all know in the comic books that they’ve had a love affair for years. They’ve had a very complicated relationship. It’s almost like they’re planting. Now the seed. Leaving a place to pick where. They want to go there with it.” Of her casting, Joe Russo said, “We wanted someone that Cap would have an immediate interest in. Person, and we felt that Emily’s work with Revenge was a great test tube for what the character could be. She’s obviously very believable with the physicality, He holds the screen very well, and he even looks like the character in the book.”
Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter:
A retired military agent with the Strategic Scientific Reserve and S.H.I.E.L.D. Its co-founder. who is the former love interest of Steve Rogers. After receiving the script, Atwell realized that the character would be 96, and I would be up to the eyeballs in prosthetics. Finally resort to his aging through CGI methods.
Toby Jones as Arnim Zola: A Hydra scientist from World War II.
Jenny Agutter as Hawley: A member of the World Security Council.
Robert Redford as Alexander Pierce:
S.H.I.E.L.D. One of its senior officials, a member of the World Security Council, and an old comrade of Nick Fury. Redford was cast as a tribute to his roles in 1970s thrillers such as Three Days of the Condor, and the directors described him as “a legend playing a villain” like Henry Fonda in Once Upon a Time. As for what drew him to the film in the West, Redford said that it interested him because it was different from his usual work, and that he wanted to “experience this new form of filmmaking where you have cartoon characters brought to life. Through high technology.”
Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury:
S.H.I.E.L.D. its director. Regarding Fury’s questionable code of ethics, Jackson said, “Almost everything that comes out of Nick Fury’s mouth is a lie in some sense. He has to ask, is he even lying to himself? He has a very good idea of what’s going on. But his delusions prevented him from believing any of it.” Jackson added, “You see Nick Fury as the office guy, he’s doing politics as opposed to the day-to-day work of S.H.I.E.L.D. and all that stuff. It’s great in terms of Captain America being able to talk soldier-to-soldier with him and try to convince him how the world is different. changed when he was frozen in time. Our enemies are now our allies—he’s trying to figure out, ‘Well, how can we trust those people?’ or ‘How do we trust the guys you didn’t trust who don’t trust you?’ And explains to him that the black and white of good guys/bad guys has now become this gray area.” McFeely said, “Fury represents an obstacle for Steve in some ways. They don’t always agree on how S.H.I.E.L.D. should be used.” Being dismantled, Fury will “take its toll”. They were also intended to portray a character who had thus far indicated a self-assured, weak man, to heighten the sense of danger in the Hydra conspiracy.
